Train Disaster

Well, this article sums up how my morning went: http://www.bordermail.com.au/story/1277492/tangled-train-makes-thousands-late-for-work/?cs=12

The commute that normally takes me 35-40 minutes took me over an hour and a half this morning - making me incredibly late to work! I knew there was nothing I could do about it, so I texted my boss letting him know and proceeded to enjoy listening to my country music on the stalled train for about half an hour...a lesson in patience in Sydney.

I really feel like I have been here for so much longer than 3 weeks. I have mastered public transportation, know where things are when people talk about them, have restaurants I really like and favorite places around the city, and overall just feel very comfortable.

Highlight of my day - my roommates and I bought tickets to go see Frank Warren and PostSecret during our last week of the program. I have been absolutely obsessed with his website for the past 5 or 6 years, and read it every single Sunday. For anyone who doesn't know, he basically gets anonymous postcards with secrets on them sent to his house, and he posts them on his website every week, and he's supposed to be an incredible speaker. I had been waiting for him to make a stop in Minnesota, but I guess I'm meant to see him here!

Cheers!

  1. G'day Bails! Wow, too crazy! I read the article and what a mess. Sounds like it was the worst time that this could happen. At least you have your "Australian motto" to live by. Frank Warren sounds great! I have heard that he is an excellant speaker. You lucky girl!! Hope you have a "golden" day! Your next animal on the list to hug is a Peregrine Falcon. Good luck with that. 2. We had planned to respond to your last blog entry and suggest you audition for a segment of "Wild Kingdom"! Up close and personal with camels, sharks, sting rays, and lizards; eating kangaroo and crocodile; what next? And now you have an encounter with tangled train wires! Your life is much too exciting for old people who haven't even heard of Frank Warren!! Love from Gram and Gramps
